​DDS Athletes was established in 2015 by Damian and Shelly Abbott. The husband-wife team has been involved with Track & Field  for most their lives-first as athletes, and then as parent-coaches of their twins Darian and Shylah. Both kids grew up on the track and began competing at track meets around the age of 5. Over the years, many of their friends asked how to get their children involved in track and field like Darian and Shylah. Those requests, along with the desire to offer a fun team atmosphere for their kids to experience, is what finally led to the formation of DDS Athletes.

 

In 2018, DDS branched out to form DDS Special Olympics Athletes with their son Damian in mind.  Damian wanted the same fun team atmosphere and opportunites for kids with Special Needs.  DDS Special Olympics Athletes creates a safe environment where Special Needs youth are able to be themselves without judgement and compete.
