"We are the parents of an amazing teenager with special needs. Over the last 7 years, we've witnessed his confidence, leadership skills and overall happiness grow due to his participation in Special Olympics Texas.
We realize that having a child with special needs sometimes means that their opportunities to participate in athletic activities are limited, especially as they reach adolescence. Special Olympics creates a safe environment where there is no judgment but a chance for them to be celebrated. Athletes are free to be themselves while competing and gaining new skills and new friends."
DDS is an official delegation of Special Olympics TX and will offer a range of Special Olympics events, including, but not limited to: Bocce Ball, Bowling, and Track & Field. We look forward to your youth and family joining us in many new and exciting sports opportunities for your special needs youth.
To be eligible to participate in Special Olympics, you must be at least 8 years old and identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions: intellectual disabilities, cognitive delays as measured by formal assessment, or significant learning or vocational problems due to cognitive delay that require or have required specially designed instruction.
